Juicing isn’t just great for your overall health, it’s great for adding muscle too.
How so I hear you say?
Well, juicing provides the body with an intense shot of vitamins, minerals and nutrients that our bodies need to function well on a daily basis.
The fresh fruits and vegetables used when juicing reduce inflammation, improve immune health, balance hormone levels and also taste great!
When the body is under stress, for example after intense physical training nutrient and energy requirements go up.
Juicing is a great way to ‘shuttle’ nutrients into the body as the juice provides readily available and easily absorbed nutrients in a great tasting drink.
The micronutrients found in fruits and vegetables help the body to build muscle more efficiently.
They also help us to fend off colds and flu and to recover from exercise more rapidly.
3 Muscle Building Juice Recipes
We’ve put together 3 of our favourite juicing recipes for bodybuilding here at JuicerGallery for you to try out.
We’ve included an added shot of whey protein and creatine into each juice to really pack a powerful muscle-building punch.
These juices can be consumed anytime throughout the day, but are particularly good for before or after a workout.
Tropical Protein Boost
- 5 medium strawberries
- 2 apples
- half a mango
- half a lemon
- one scoop of whey protein (~30grams, optional)
- one scoop of creatine (5 grams, optional)
This tasty mix of fresh fruits is great after a hard workout.
It’s a really refreshing juice and one of our favourites here at JuicerGallery.
The strawberries and lemon provide a potent shot of vitamin C that helps to boost collagen production and acts as an antioxidant in the body.
The mango contains more vitamin C, digestive enzymes and beta-carotene to further boost your health.
The protein and creatine are optional depending on what your dietary needs are.
Start by taking the stems off the strawberries and depending on whether you have a whole fruit juicer or not peel and chop the remaining ingredients and juice altogether.
Watermelon Detox Cleanse
- 3 large slices of watermelon
- 2 apples
- half a lemon
- one scoop of whey protein (~30grams, optional)
- one scoop of creatine (5 grams, optional)
This simple but effective juice recipe is a great thirst quencher for after a long gruelling workout session.
The apples provide vitamin C, anti-oxidants and give the juice a nice sweet flavour.
The watermelon helps to cleanse your kidneys and adds electrolytes which are good to replace after working out.
The lemon adds some sharpness and makes the juice a little less sweet. It also promotes hydration, aids digestion and freshens your breath.
Remove most of the rind from the lemon and watermelon and throw everything into juice together.
Metabolism Power Boost
- 1 lemon
- 3 beets
- 1 jalapeno pepper
This simple but effective slightly spicy juice recipe makes a delicious start to the day.
The lemon provides a digestive boost in the morning that also freshens breath and aids in circulation.
The beets give the juice a nice red color and are high in anti-oxidants to help detox your body.
The jalapeno pepper gives the juice a delicious spicy kick and also helps to boost circulation. This will have a great affect on your body as improved circulation means better nutrient availability and therefore more protein becomes available to your muscles.
The optional protein and creatine are a great benefit in our opinion and provide a readily available source of easily digestible protein to complement your juice.
